Development Team Ensures Adoption Platform Captures all Families in Need

TOPEKA, KS, DECEMBER 20, 2018 – The holiday season has gotten brighter for over 6,000 Topeka residents thanks to the support of the United Way of Greater Topeka Christmas Bureau, a nonprofit that connects donor families with those in need during the holiday season this year. Antiquated technology systems have typically made it difficult for United Way to organize and complete the paperwork necessary to make these connections. For the seventh consecutive year, SE2 volunteers donated 50 total hours updating the web portal in order to make the process run more efficiently this season.

In 2011, SE2 built a responsive web application to tackle the complex administrative processes that the community adoptions required. Today, the United Way leverages the web-based system to scan and index paper applications, capture adopter/adoptee data, match families and share information between all involved parties.

This year’s SE2 volunteer team was led by Ambrish Patel and included support from Kevin Downing, Arin Stone, Lucas Mallein, Sarah Ramos and Nick Trower. SE2’s leadership team including Thiru Sivasubramanian, Vice President of Architecture, Solutions & Integrations and Ed Miller, Vice President of Development supported the initiative and ensured the team had ample resources to complete the project.
